Dear Sponsors:
We are delighted to introduce Reciprocitas, a newly established non-profit organization based in Canada, dedicated to supporting community-centred mutual aid groups in Haiti. These groups consist of unemployed individuals aged 15 to 64 who come together to form Mutual Aid Groups of 5, 7, or 9 members.
Each group member agrees to contribute 20 hours of work per week to their group or a local organization, focusing on initiatives that benefit their community. In exchange for their efforts, participants receive 10 hours of training each week in essential areas, such as literacy, numeracy, and civic and moral education, as well as a monthly participation incentive of US$100 for up to 18 months.
We are seeking funding from your organization to support five mutual aid groups in Haiti, along with a facilitator for these groups, over 18 months, or to secure financing for at least one of these groups. Reciprocitas will transfer the exact amount of funding received for each member to each member of the mutual aid group, as well as their facilitator. Furthermore, the provided training will increase and broaden their skill sets, positioning them for future growth and development.
We understand that the newness of our organization may raise some concerns regarding our approach to providing participation incentives (i.e., monetary incentives and training conditional on participation) for local mutual aid groups and our capability to deliver. However, please consider trusting the potential transformative impact this initiative could have on the communities we aim to support. (www.reciprocitas.org/sponsor)
Yours sincerely
